Are you tired of the hot flashes, irritability and headaches associated with Menopause and Peri-Menopause? Cheer up, I have natural remedies!

During Peri-Menopause and Menopause, 3 out of every 4 women have intense hot flashes. If you are one of those 3 and would like relief, there are a few things you can do. Firstly, you want to check with your doctor to make sure you are getting enough Vitamin E and the B complex. Exercise can also help and my favorite combines a Pilates abdominal exercise with an acupressure point that is known to reduce hot flashes, relieve neck and shoulder tension and reduce headaches. I recommend doing this exercise twice a day for best results. This acupressure point (called GB 20) is at the base of your skull in the back, about an inch away from center on each side. There is a hollow there that you can feel with your fingers. Find the hollow and then press in and up under the base of the skull. You can press with your fingers or thumbs, whichever you are more comfortable doing.

The exercise that we are going to combine with this acupressure point is a Pilates bicycle which will help us build lean muscle and lean muscle burns more fat, what a bonus!
Begin lying on your back on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat, about hip distance apart. Then, lift your upper body off the floor slightly with your abdominal muscles and rest your head in your hands so that you can press fingers or thumbs into the acupressure points. Before you start, make sure that there is no tension in your neck and shoulders and that your head is just resting in your hands. Then, inhale as you slowly twist at the waist to one side, touching your right elbow to the left knee and then extend the left leg and exhale slowly as you twist to touch the left elbow to the right knee. The legs are bicycling, and you are twisting at the waist. Do not bring the head up and down from the floor each time as this puts a strain on your neck. Use your abs to hold your upper body up and twist at your waist. Complete ten breaths and twists to each side to begin with, gradually working your way up to twenty on each side. Make sure that your breaths are deep and full because that will help circulate fresh, oxygenated blood through your body which can also help relieve your hot flashes

These take very little time and can be done while you are catching up with the weather before you start your day and again while watching TV at night. Do them faithfully and you will relieve your menopausal hot flashes, reduce headaches and irritability as well as neck and shoulder tension, all while getting in some good exercise. Now that is what I call multi-tasking!
